Empowering Minds Together, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 association that advocates on behalf of low–income families in Maryland, provide direct human services working to lead families to self–sufficiency and independence. We empower individuals with disabilities to reach their potential at home, work, and in the community. Our focus is person-centered planning to achieve an individual’s goals.
Each day our partners and our highly trained Direct Support Professionals (DSP) guide, mentor, and train each individual, promoting growth, learning, and success. We identify one’s strengths and weaknesses and use their strengths to build on those areas that need improvement. We work towards reaching each person’s maximum potential in all aspects of his or her life.
There is a place for every person with mental illness in our world—a place of value and a place of worth. Much of the work undertaken by our organization is directed toward raising awareness and educating the general public about the complexities. We believe that once people better understand mental illness, they are better able to welcome and support people living in the greater community.
